TCL Launches Midrange BlackBerry Motion

TCL Launches Midrange BlackBerry Motion

Earlier this year, the Chinese company TCL released the BlackBerry KEYone. Following this, it seemed that TCL would then be focusing on selling handsets that had both the QWERTY keyboard as well as a large touch screen. However, it appears they have gone in a completely different direction. The most recent TCL smartphone release is actually a smartphone that has no keyboard at all.

The BlackBerry Motion was finally revealed as a mid-range phone that offers decent specs along with some nice features as well. The launch for the phone was purposely made to be low profile so the unveiling happened during GITEX Technology Week, which happened in Dubai.

The BlackBerry Motion, of course, debuted with a large 1080p display that measures 5.5 inches and has a large home button directly in front that is quite obvious and easy to see. The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, it has 4GB of RAM, internal memory of 32GB and a back camera that features 12 megapixels and has an aperture rating of f/2.0.

Even though the device is mid range, it comes equipped with a fingerprint reader and has exceeds expectations with an impressive IP67 water resistance. Furthermore, it has a huge 4,000mAh battery, so it is quite possible that you will be able to go a whole day and never have to recharge the phone.

It is definitely a very different phone than the KEYone, but it still has some of the same features. For instance, the software is the same Android 7.1 and the apps are focused on security so that all personal activities will remain personal and private.

The Nougat OS has been modified to contain Calendar, Hub and other apps that are common to the BlackBerry suite. A new feature known as Locker also comes standard. It helps you to save both documents and photos behind a PIN or an area of the phone that is protected by biometrics, neither of which are connected to the cloud.

As far as appearance is concerned, it has been stated that the BlackBerry Motion could easily pass as a close relative of the iPhone or even Sony’s new Xperia handset. The frame is hardened aluminum while the back of the device features a softer texture.

BlackBerry Motion is set to retail around AED 1,699 for UAE and at SAR 1,699 in KSA. In North America, the price is expected to start at about $460.
